The Museum of Science and Water joins another year to the '11F' movement, date chosen by the United Nations as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, organizing until February 15 a number of activities, among which are special planetarium sessions 'with the eyes of women', children's workshops on women scientists, actions on social networks to make visible the presence of women in Murcian science, or the conference 'Women and the brain', which taught by the director of the University Institute of Research in Aging Maria Trinidad Herrero.
The aim is to contribute to the visibility of the work of women scientists in society and to promote female roles in the fields of science and technology, in order to promote gender equality in the scientific field.
Likewise, the public of the Museum will find these days in the lobby of the Museum a panel of messages 'con-ciencia de mujer', in which they will be able to share their ideas on the contributions and challenges of women in the field of science.
Thus, during the first half of February all the planetarium sessions will highlight the contributions made by women of all times in the field of astronomy, space exploration or other related sciences.
On Saturday February 9 will be the conference 'Women and the brain', at 12 noon with free entry, and will be taught by Maria Trinidad Herrero, director of the University Institute for Research in Aging and president of Lyceum of Science (Association of women
Scientists of the Region of Murcia).
On Sunday, February 10, two workshops will be held: At 12 o'clock 'The game of Ada Byron', a mathematical game made with recycled material, while at 13 o'clock it will be the turn of the 'Fluorescent lanterns' in which they will be known some biographical data of Marie Curie, a pioneer in the study of radioactivity, and fluorescent flashlights with simple materials will be constructed.
All the workshops are dedicated to children from 4 to 9 years old with a maximum of 20 places.
In addition, in the blog and profiles in Social Networks (Twiter and Facebook) of the museum, entries related to the scientific and technological activity of Murcian women will be published.
