In this way, Terra Natura continues the '12 months with you 'program aimed at groups with specific needs.
"Last year, more than 337 people with specific needs benefited from this pioneering initiative in Spain, which is a great opportunity to develop and learn new activities surrounded by nature, through which animals also learn values and can interact with several animals, such as lemurs "has informed Conchita Ruiz.
The nature and animal park will offer, in this way, a different action aimed at members of social entities that will take place at the facilities of Terra Natura Murcia.
Throughout the year, small groups of different associations and organizations can enjoy a safari and various activities organized in the park itself, adapted to the specific needs of each of them.
The planned actions will be developed together with NGOs and entities working with these groups, such as Todos Somos Campus (UMU and ONCE), ACOFAMT, Murcia Norte Social Services Center, D'Genes, Abamurcia, Project 13-17, FADE, ASSIDO, Adaner Murcia, Proyecto Hombre, Project Abraham and CEOM.
The program has begun with the visit of a group of people with different degrees of disability, belonging to the Todos Somos Campus program, promoted by the UMU and a grant from the ONCE Foundation.
In addition to visiting the park facilities, they were able to learn about the actions of the Terra Natura professionals in different areas of action such as animal care and care, marketing or administration.
"Terra Natura has become the green lung of our city, a space surrounded by trees, nature and animals that is only a few kilometers from the center." From the City of Murcia we put all the facilities at our disposal so that This park is known and enjoyed by everyone, whether in family or with friends, it is an accessible park and open all year round "José Guillén highlighted.
100% accessible park
Terra Natura is considered as a totally accessible venue.
The adaptation has been made with contributions from various organizations, which defined the aspects to be taken care of.
For example, climbing accesses have been adapted, the holes in the trees have been filled, the closings and entrances to the bathrooms have been conditioned, specific areas for people in wheelchairs have been installed and improvements in the hearing system have also been applied.
Zootherapy is another activity that takes place in the Adapted Summer School.
More than 50 children participate in this therapy with sea lions, dogs, lemurs, giraffes, raptors or fallow deer.
These therapies are taught by therapists and the objectives are physiotherapeutic, psycho-social and logopedic, among others.
They are aimed at students with disabilities, between 5 and 20 years.
