- "Mobility in the district by means of public transport is very difficult and causes its inhabitants to be frequently obliged to walk kilometers on foot or resort to private vehicles for their more daily commuting, such as, for example, going to an banking (in the district there is none) or go to the health center in La Ñora "
NOW MURCIA demands the increase in the frequency of buses in Rincón de Beniscornia, so that the City Council guarantees the right to mobility of the residents of this district.
Currently, bus line 79, Molina de Segura-Murcia, makes its first two stops in Rincón de Beniscornia, on weekdays, at 7:00 and 8:30 in the morning, and from that moment the frequency is every two hours .
"On Saturdays there is no bus in the afternoon, or on Sundays throughout the day," explains Alicia Morales, "which means that the town is cut off by bus from 2.30 pm on Saturday until Monday morning."
These frequencies "manifestly insufficient" have been denounced by neighbors and neighbors of Rincón de Beniscornia for some time, and the member of Ahora Murcia in the district, Jorge Robles, brought a motion with this demand to the municipal board in May 2016. "The motion, which was approved unanimously," Robles explains, "proposed that the frequency of the line be increased so that the district would have at least one bus every hour."
"Since then, however, nothing has been done," denounces the councilor of Ahora Murcia, "and the Transport Bureau has proven to be a useless instrument to solve the situation, so we are going to take this demand from our neighbors. from Rincón de Beniscornia to the next Plenary Session of the City Council, through a motion that states that there is at least one bus every hour from the hamlet to Murcia, and so that in the redesign of lines and frequencies that may be carried out in the future, it is studied and arbitrated a definitive solution to end the situation of abandonment of the locality ".
For his part, Jorge Robles stressed that currently "mobility in the district by public transport is very difficult and causes its inhabitants are often forced to walk miles on foot or resort to the private vehicle for their more daily commuting, such as For example, go to a bank (there are none in the district) or go to the health center in La Ñora, and this especially affects young people, women and the elderly, who are the most frequent bus users. "
The spokeswoman of Ahora Murcia, Alicia Morales, highlights that "we are again demonstrating, as we have done many times before, that public transport in the municipality, especially in the districts, has serious deficits in terms of lines, frequencies of step and punctuality refers ".
Councilor recalls that "mobility is a basic right and
guaranteeing it must be a priority on the municipal government's agenda, and even more so, at a time when it is urgent to reduce the use of private vehicles due to traffic and pollution problems, which implies having a public transport offer effective and efficient, that generates a more sustainable mobility ".
