The works that will culminate the pedestrianization of the Gran Via Alfonso X El Sabio, specifically in the section from its intersection with Jaime I El Conquistador street to the confluence with the Plaza Circula, may begin in February, after today surpassing the last step of the Contracting Committee, chaired by Eduardo Martínez-Oliva.
The proposal for the award to the UTE Edifesa-Construcciones and Obras Llorente, with a budget of 2,198,542 euros and an execution period of 8 months, will be approved at an upcoming Governing Board.
The remodeling, which affects an area of 8,217 m2, involves the complete renovation of the pavement and the creation of a modern and uniform urban treatment space, completing the most important itinerary of the city, between the river and the Plaza Circular.
In this way, the new model of urban mobility is consolidated, based on the prominence of pedestrians and cyclists, which is now applied to one of the most representative arteries of Murcia, where accessibility to neighbors and public services will be maintained.
