- Murcia now remembers that the church of San Juan Bautista is BIC (Good of Cultural Interest) and therefore its perimeter and environment are subject to specific protection regulations
- Has requested a copy of the reports made so far by the services of Fire, Police and Civil Protection in relation to the passage of emergency vehicles on San José Street
NOW MURCIA today challenged councilman Jesus Pacheco to show the authorizations of the Ministry of Culture for the terraces of the squares of San Juan and Cristo del Rescate and for San José street.
The municipal training considers that the statement of the mayor of Culture that all these terraces "have all the relevant permits", "should not be left alone in words and has to be demonstrated." It seems very unlikely that the General Directorate of Cultural Assets granted the permissions to install pedestals, tents and furniture in the environment and next to the facades of the church of San Juan Bautista, which is BIC (Good of Cultural Interest) If Pacheco wants to demonstrate that the situation of these terraces is perfectly legal, very easy to do it. "
Now Murcia denounced yesterday that the proliferation of terraces in the vicinity of the church of San Juan Bautista "can be dangerous for security", since "they can prevent the passage of emergency vehicles, especially in the narrow street San José, which links the squares of San Juan and Cristo del Rescate ".
Faced with this situation, Now Murcia has requested today in writing a copy of the authorizations that the General Directorate of Cultural Assets, in its case, granted to the terraces located in San José Street, and in the squares of San Juan and Cristo del Rescate.
The municipal training has also requested a copy of the reports made so far by the services of Fire, Police and Civil Protection in relation to the passage of emergency vehicles on San José Street, as well as the conditions of the area for the correct intervention of the different services assigned to the Department of Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection.
The councilor Alicia Morales affirms that "the excessive occupation by terraces of some zones of the city, like the one of San Juan Bautista, causes inconveniences to the neighbors and makes difficult the transit of pedestrians and of people with reduced mobility".
The mayor recalls "the City Council's obligation to make the public spaces of the city accessible and safe for all neighbors."
