The V Days An education for the 21st century.
Looks from the sciences and the arts, of which the University of Murcia is a co-organizer, start this Thursday with the horizon of two months of lectures, talks, workshops and events that will be distributed in 17 municipalities, under the premise of giving value to the public education and promote the debate on the necessary changes so that the contents taught in the classrooms are adjusted to the true needs of the students.
The full program of these two months of activities has been presented this Wednesday at the Convalecencia, the seat of the rectorship.
The inauguration of the program will take place this Thursday, January 17, in the auditorium of the University of Murcia.
Antonio Viaño, honorary professor of Theory of the History of Education, will give the conference on Education, Judges and Constitution.
An interpretive or ideological question?
The event, which will be chaired by the rector, José Luján, will begin at seven in the afternoon.
New technologies, the teaching of music and the arts, gender equality, the environment and the effects of climate change and science will be some of the central topics that the conferences will occupy, which will be taught by prestigious professionals in each one of the subjects.
One of the most outstanding examples will be the participation of the researcher Salvador Martínez Pérez, who will teach the Neurosciences conference in different municipalities: the brain and ephemeral emotions.

In addition, there is also space for movies and music in the program.
It is expected that the Symphony Orchestra of the Region of Murcia will perform at the closing, which will take place on March 19.
Framed in the program are also the Days of Alternative Diversity for students with specific educational needs of learning, to be held on February 22 and 23 in Molina de Segura.
Schools and institutes in the Region and other communities will share their experiences in the approach to inclusive education.
Mariano de Pedro, a retired teacher and one of the members of the organizing committee of the V Days An education for the 21st century has affirmed that the unifying goal of all activities is "to offer a vision of education from other perspectives than academic ones. , with approaches that open us to other educational realities and allow us to expand criteria that confirm our positions in defense of public education. "
For his part, the Vice Chancellor of Quality, Culture and Communication, Javier Martínez Méndez, stressed "the pride of the University of Murcia for collaborating with these days and join the effort to improve teaching and the demand for public education "
In addition, Martínez Méndez stressed "that we must not stop vindicating the figure of the teacher and the secondary school teacher" as the backbone of public education.
The cycle An education for the 21st century is coordinated by a group of retired teachers and has the co-organization of the University of Murcia, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the Regional Film Library and the Museum of Science and Water.
