The councilor for Education, Relations with Universities and Housing, Rafael Gómez, has criticized that "the mayor of Now Murcia, which is considered an expert in housing, is unaware that the work of municipal services."
Gomez has indicated that "the Housing Service of the City of Murcia has the resources available for social services to address emergencies arising from situations such as those that could arise both for mortgage-type foreclosures and unpaid rent."
For its part, the Councilor for Social Rights, Conchita Ruiz, has indicated that "we will hardly give a solution to these families if we are not aware of their situation.
Neither in the Housing Service nor in Social Services is there a record of families with children at risk of being evicted, otherwise the mechanisms established to respond to their urgent needs would have been automatically set in motion. "
"Before provoking alarm and making headlines, the councilor should make sure that these families have been well advised and that they have gone to the right place to ask for help," criticized Ruiz.
The Councilor for Social Rights has recalled that "the City of Murcia through Social Services awarded in a single year 4,267 financial aid for an amount of 3.2 million euros for the care of social needs to people or families who lack resources own economic services to attend to their basic needs, including rental assistance.
In this sense, more than 550,000 euros were allocated so that 650 Murcia families could face the rental of their home. "
