Pilar de la Rúa, professor at the University of Murcia (UMU), will give a conference with the bees as protagonists in their role as pollinators and their fundamental contribution to the food chain.
Currently, these insects face numerous threats.
Changes in land use, climate change or the use of chemicals to control agricultural pests are some of the factors that put them at risk.
"For this it is necessary to know policies and management measures to protect them", claims the expert.
Pilar de la Rúa Tarín is a professor at the UMU with teaching in General Biology in the Degree of Science and Technology of Food and Molecular Techniques, applied to the study of biodiversity in the Master's Degree in Protected Areas, Natural Resources and Biodiversity.
He carries out his research in the branch of apidology, which deals with various aspects related to the honey bee.
She is the author of more than 100 articles and has participated in several congresses and associations related to pollinating insects.
This activity is organized by the Unit of Scientific Culture of the Vice-rectorship of Quality, Culture and Communication of the University of Murcia, within the cycle of conferences 'The UMU and the scientific culture'.
The objective is to bring the research carried out at the University of Murcia to society closer.
