The group urges Culture to adopt urgent precautionary measures to curb the accelerated degradation of this important heritage of the Murcian garden, as well as to avoid its definitive ruin.
Huermur emphasizes the importance of this patrimonial set that according to the experts point could date from the seventeenth century, as well as being part of the traditional typology of the tower houses of the Murcian garden.
The entity criticizes the lack of interest of the Ministry of Culture that has left expire the file that was already initiated in February 2017, expiration that occurs in the absence of actions by the administration, so Huermur has again urged its start urgent.
The Association for the Conservation of the Garden and the Heritage of Murcia (Huermur) has requested the General Directorate of Cultural Assets of the Ministry of Culture, the urgent cataloging of the architectural complex of the Torre del Fraile in the hamlet of El Puntal Murcia, under the Heritage Law.
All this given that this regional administration expired the previous protection file last October, without it being known, beyond the opening in the BORM of the file, any action aimed at the final declaration of the Torre del Fraile as well cataloged by its cultural relevance.
In the same sense, Huermur emphasizes the importance of this patrimonial set of the huerta of Murcia, since according to the technical reports of both the City of Murcia and the Ministry of Culture, it is indicated that the chronology for this set would be at some point 17th century.
Timeline that will coincide with the economic growth that occurs in the environment of Espinardo from the sixteenth century, when the farmland gained to dry land with the opening of the ditches of Alfatego, Churra La Vieja and Churra la Nueva.
Context that favors the development of agricultural holdings such as tower houses since the 17th century.
The importance of the location of the architectural complex has also been reflected in the request for protection of Huermur, since it is very close to the historic communication routes, such as the Senda de Granada, which crossed and crosses, the Monteagudo nuclei, Churra and Espinardo, and constituted for centuries the main communication axis of the region and is, without doubt, a relic of the oldest road network.
Given the important typological values of this construction, and which offers a unique testimony for ethnographic study and traditional architecture in the northern area of the huerta of Murcia, Huermur has requested, under Law 4/2007 of Cultural Heritage, measures urgent precautions to Culture to put an end as soon as possible to the current state of degradation that suffers, as well as to prevent it from definitively falling into a state of irreversible ruin, and also proceed to execute the repairs and works necessary for its consolidation and protection.
The president of Huermur, Sergio Pacheco, adds that: "It is imperative the need to protect properly and protected by the heritage regulations this important set of the Torre del Fraile, it is one of the few historical buildings that remain in this northern area of the huerta of Murcia, and more before the enormous urban pressure that lurks on the place ".
Finally, Huermur criticizes the disinterest of the Ministry of Culture of the Regional Government, since since the protection file was opened in February 2017, no further steps have been taken to achieve the definitive protection and cataloging of the Torre del Fraile within the term of twenty months fixed by the Law of Patrimony.
Therefore, Huermur will ask the General Directorate of Public Function and Quality of Services of CARM to investigate this lack of speed in the file, as it is not the first protection procedure that expires in Culture.
