The 'maestro' Ibarra, as he was known, was named honorary professor and Extraordinary Professor of Sports Journalism by the UCAM, in an act chaired by José Luis Mendoza, president of the Catholic University of Murcia
"If the athlete leaves the skin to gain a few tenths of a second to the chronometer, the sports journalist has the obligation to know each of the words he uses when qualifying or writing about him", with these words, Juan Ignacio of Ibarra Pérez Nolla addressed the students of the UCAM at the event, who was appointed an honorary professor and Extraordinary Professor of Sports Journalism, and which was chaired by José Luis Mendoza, president of the Catholic University.
At 83 years of age, the 'maestro', as he was called by those who knew him and wanted him, has died leaving behind a great legacy for the world of journalism, sports and culture of the Region of Murcia.
In that act of homage, which took place in the Temple of the Monastery of Los Jerónimos (March 2016), Ibarra was surrounded by his family and friends, who did not want to miss one of the last lessons of which he has been one of the sports journalists of reference in Murcia during the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.
From the UCAM we want to send our deepest sorrow to your friends and family for your losses and we pray a prayer for your soul.
