The City of Murcia has activated the level of air pollution by exceeding for 3 consecutive days the value of 50 μg / m³ of the PM10 particle pollutant in the automatic control and monitoring station of San Basilio, according to the municipal protocol of measures to be adopted during episodes of atmospheric pollution by nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ozone and particles PM10, approved by the Governing Board and published in BORM dated November 30, 2018.
Murcia has been the first municipality in the region to approve this document "precisely to objectify the measures in situations like the current one," explained the Councilor for Urban Planning, Environment, Water and Garden, Antonio Navarro.
From the first day on which the limit of 50 μg / m³ was exceeded, different patterns of behavior to the population foreseen in the warning level were recommended, among them, reducing prolonged exposure and carrying out physical exercise or activities that require effort outdoors, choose to travel by foot or bicycle, use public transport and, if you have the car, share the journey with others, turn off unnecessary lights and appliances that are not used, lower the temperature of heating, and postpone the burning of stubble and agricultural margins.
The exceedances The data of polluting particles have been registered only in the automatic control and monitoring station of San Basilio, located very close to Ronda Oeste, which has become 'a highway very saturated with traffic, especially in holiday periods like the current ones. , which makes it essential and increasingly urgent that as soon as the Ministry of Public Works builds the North and Northwest Arcs, Navarro explained.
Regarding the measures that have been taken today, the councilor explained that instructions have been given to divert bus and truck traffic as it passes through Ronda Oeste, specifically at the junction with the UMU, for the traffic in the direction from Madrid, and in the El Palmar junction, when the Puerto de la Cadena goes down, for the traffic coming from Cartagena.
In both cases, the alternative route is the Alcantarilla highway.
