In Murcia, this and the other Artesianian wells -now disappeared under the asphalt or destroyed- helped to irrigate the crops in the garden.
Until a few years ago, Zarandona had at least two more: "the one of the aunt Salvadora" and "the one of the marchioness", nailed between acequias and cañares.
The "well of Uncle Carmona" has a degree of protection and in the Special Plan of the Historical Settlement (PECHA) it is warned that actions that alter its environmental value should be avoided, "which does not mean that they can not be carried out. actions for its rehabilitation ".
