This is the second reduction in the price of water price in the mandate of Mayor José Ballesta;

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, chaired today the Board of Directors of the Municipal Company Aguas de Murcia, which has approved the new rates for the year 2019, which include a second drop in the price of water that can reach up to 5%, according to the consumption segments.

This is the second drop in the water price rate in the mandate of Mayor José Ballesta;

5% that is added to the reduction of up to 9% that came into force in 2016, the first in the history of the municipality of Murcia.

"Our goal is to protect, above all, the interests of families Murcia, which are those who bear the price of the bill," said José Ballesta, who added that "water is a public service and this new low will benefit the 80% of domestic consumption, like the previous one, benefiting 150,000 Murcia families. "

The rates approved today will have to be ratified previously by the municipal Plenary and by the General Directorate of Commerce, before its publication and entry into force.

This reduction is the result of the negotiation of the government team with the Citizens group, for the approval of the municipal budgets.

Social nature and exemption of 100% of the phreatic level quota

The new rates enhance its social nature, giving coverage to families at risk of exclusion, to which a reduction of 25% of the fixed water and sewerage fee will be applied.

The debt of the families subject to the social tariff will also be taken into account, in order to avoid that this poses a problem for them.

There will be an exemption of 100% of the fee for spilling water from the water table for users who meet the minimum conditions of discharge, one of the measures incorporated by the Citizen group with the approval of the Budgets.
