The children and young people of five schools and the Bacons Bridge Institute are decorating the gardens of the parish with Christmas decorations.
During the last weeks they have made objects with recycled material (boats, milk cartons, etc.) with which to beautify their town in a sustainable way.
Faced with the waste of lights that these days are lavished by many streets of the city, they have decided to leave their creative footprint to brighten all public spaces by drawing on the imagination and few resources.
This initiative arose from an invitation made by the Municipal Board so that each educational center carried out at its free choice the decoration of a town square or garden.
This activity aims to raise society's awareness that all neighborhoods can be brightened in an ecological way, avoiding energy consumption.
It also aims to empower the children and young people of the parish so that they can act with full freedom, using their town as an exhibition and integrating space.
In coordination, the AMPAs of the educational centers have actively participated, which at the time agreed that the predominant color this Christmas would be violet.
It is a protest gesture of equality between men and women, which also pays homage to those women who have lost their lives as a result of sexist violence.
With this, not only have they managed to have a good time, but they have won the hearts of the neighbors, who appreciate with emotion these small artistic works made by the youngest of the district.
The distribution of this decoration has been distributed as follows:
- CEIP Ramón Gaya: Reina Sofía Garden
- CEIP Infanta Cristina: Garden of Aunt Rita
- CEIP Our Lady of the Rosary: Tomás y Valiente Garden
- CEIP San Lorenzo: Aljada Garden
This morning the IES Aljada is decorating the Miguel Ángel Blanco Garden and it is planned that at 4pm.
from this afternoon the Marco School begins the decoration of José Pardo.
