Aid has also been granted to Caritas Diocese of Cartagena for humanitarian aid to the Philippines, amounting to 10,000 euros
The Governing Board gives the green light to grant a grant to the UNICEF Foundation for the development of Humanitarian Aid projects in Indonesia, due to the earthquake and tsunami that occurred in October 2018, for an amount of 20,000 euros.
Earthquakes, tsunami and landslides caused significant damage, including the death of 2,045 people, more than 2,550 people injured and 113 people missing.
More than 66,000 houses are severely damaged or destroyed by the earthquake, tsunami, forcing 80,000 people to move and leaving some 330,000 people without adequate shelter.
In this way, the Council for Cooperation and Solidarity met on October 17 to approve the delivery of humanitarian aid by the City of Murcia.
Through the organizations that work in humanitarian aid projects, it has been determined to carry out a provision of supply and maintenance of drinking water, sanitation and hygiene of the affected people.
A grant has also been granted to Caritas Diocese of Cartagena to allocate humanitarian aid to the Philippines.
Between September 15 and 16 Typhoon Mangkhut passed through the northern Philippines with winds of more than 200 km / h, and according to the National Agency for Risk Reduction, about 2.1 million people were affected, spread over 7 regions and 4,414 barangays.
The number of evacuees exceeded 200,000.
In September, some 7,100 people remained in 87 evacuation centers and an estimated 20,300 people remain with host families, mainly in the province of Bulaqcan.
For this reason, the Council for Cooperation and Solidarity met on September 21 and October 17, which approved the delivery of humanitarian aid by the City of Murcia.
The aid granted is for an amount of 10,000 euros which will meet the immediate needs of food, in terms of basic needs, shelter and livelihoods in almost 3,000 homes.
