The University of Murcia has signed on Wednesday a collaboration agreement with the Murcian Organization of Women Entrepreneurs, Professionals and Directors (OMEP), whose purpose is to promote entrepreneurship in the university environment;
something that is being strengthened thanks to the Office of Entrepreneurship recently created at the UMU.
Antonio Aragón, initiator of the agreement and director of Entrepreneurship of the UMU, explained that this agreement comes to formalize and give coverage to a relationship that has existed for a long time with OMEP.
"We want students to have models of entrepreneurial reference women, that are not only men," he pointed.
This pending subject is being solved thanks to the support of organizations such as OMEP, to whom Aragón has thanked the serious commitment adopted in this aspect.
The president of OMEP, Manuela Marín, has expressed that one of her objectives is to spread the entrepreneurial culture and give visibility to women entrepreneurs in the educational field, both in schools and faculties.
He stressed that it is important that students "become aware of the world of work and that they can see women at the head of the companies", something that will serve to take them as references and to break down barriers.
In her speech, Alicia Rubio, vice-chancellor of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society of the UMU, stressed the importance of breaking stereotypes in relation to the role of women in the company.
In that sense, he thanked OMEP for the work they are doing and was proud to sign this collaboration agreement.
"Women are in the business world, and we are here to stay," he concluded.
