The councilman of Change Murcia Sergio Ramos will raise a motion to the plenary of Thursday so that the City Council carries out during this Christmas a campaign of inspections with the aim of detecting the presence of adulterated alcohol and of low quality, known this last one as' garrafón ', in bars and clubs of the municipality.
The municipal training has presented this initiative, which will join the proposal of an awareness campaign for the responsible consumption of alcohol, after collecting complaints from groups of young people who have alerted him of the increase in the sale of low quality alcohol, especially during the holidays, whose consequences can be severe headaches, throat irritation and gastric type, and general malaise, among others.
Ramos recalled that although only 1 percent of all alcohol distributed in Spain has been modified with additions of methyl alcohol and other toxic substances, the sale of low-quality liquor like alcohol manufactured by recognized brands is widespread. It is "a scam" for customers and "unfair competition" between establishments.
The campaign proposed by Cambiemos Murcia includes the implementation of an inspection plan in establishments where glasses are served during the Christmas holidays for further analysis by the competent municipal body.
It also raises the need to create a section of complaints on the website of the City Council so that consumers can inform the local Administration in case of having suffered this thymus, specifying the location, so that the Consistory can, after analysis, determine a sanction for those responsible.
In addition, the motion includes an agreement for the government team to inform the hotel and catering associations of the municipality about the aforementioned campaign and the conclusions of the inspections, as well as the need to put an end to the sale of alcohol handled in bars and restaurants. clubs of Murcia.
