The UCAM, the Spanish university that grows the most in research (13/12/2018)

The Catholic of Murcia has grown in scientific production by 157% according to the latest data (2013-2016) evaluated by the IUNE ranking that analyzes the research activity in public and private universities in Spain

The objective of all research is to solve real problems of society, and therefore has bet the Catholic University of Murcia since its inception, increasing year after year its investment.

According to the IUNE ranking (developed by a group of researchers belonging to the universities that make up the '4U Alliance'), UCAM is, by far, the University of Spain that has grown the most in research in the 2013-2016 period.

As for the Region of Murcia, the Catholic University has grown by 157%, the University of Murcia by 3.4% and the Polytechnic of Cartagena has not experienced any growth.

Likewise, with respect to the growth in scientific production from 2007 to 2016, the data from the UCAM are even higher, with an increase of 563%.

In addition, if we take into account the size of the institution, from 2013 to 2016 the UCAM has also increased the number of scientific articles per professor by 84%.

Between private

Among the private Spanish universities, of the 33 analyzed in the ranking, the Catholic University of Murcia is also the institution that has grown the most in research.

In 2016, it was positioned as the third private university in scientific production, and in the academic year 2017-18 the research production of the Murcian institution continued to increase at a faster rate than the rest, exceeding the 400 articles published in indexed journals.

Highlights the line of work led by the Professor of Biology of Development Juan Carlos Izpisua, world leader in the field of regenerative medicine, who published the past year 11 articles derived from research projects promoted and funded by the UCAM, in journals scientists with the greatest global impact (Nature, Cell and Science).

Along with him, other researchers from the Murcian institution have published their results in scientific journals of high impact, among the most recent ones, José Pedro Cerón, Pedro Emilio Alcaraz, Estrella Núñez, Horacio Pérez, José Antonio Gabaldón, Vicente Navarro and José Luis Bald.
