Pablo Artal Soriano, Professor of Optics at the University of Murcia, has received the Juan de la Cierva National Award in the area of ​​Technology Transfer, granted by the Ministry of Science and whose decision was communicated to him today by the Minister, Pedro Duque.
The jury unanimously granted this recognition to Artal "for his pioneering contributions in the use of innovative methods for the evaluation and correction of the vision and its impact on ocular health." It also highlights his scientific and technological trajectory of a very high level, recognized At national and international level".
The Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer of the University of Murcia, after evaluating the different proposals presented, selected the researcher to represent the institution in this call.

The National Research Awards, created in 1982, are granted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and represent the most important recognition of Spain in the field of scientific research.
They aim to distinguish the merit of those researchers and researchers of Spanish nationality who are doing outstanding work in scientific fields of international relevance and who contribute exceptionally to the advancement of science, to the better knowledge of the human being and their coexistence, to the transfer of technology and the progress of humanity.
These awards, which were not delivered since 2014, have a total amount amounting to 150,000 euros, each of them having an economic endowment of 30,000 euros.
The Minister of Science, Innovation and Universities, Pedro Duque, today announced to the winners the decision of the jury of the National Research Awards 2018 and congratulated them on behalf of the Government.
In addition to Artal, the award in the area of ​​Science of Physical Sciences, Materials and Earth to Rafael Rebolo López has also been awarded;
