The councilman of Change Murcia Sergio Ramos has described today as "irresponsible" that since last July has not convened the commission for the reform of the Regulation of Citizen Participation of the City Council, which is the instrument that governs the functioning of the boards of neighborhoods and districts of the municipality.
Ramos regretted the "situation of paralysis" suffered by all the processes initiated within the commission for the reform, which was approved at the first plenary session of the Corporation, in July 2015, although "the municipal government has not convened it in two years and since the PSOE presides over it, fruit of its support to the budgets of the PP, it has only been summoned three times in more than 12 months ".
The mayor of the municipal training has insisted that the fact that the commission takes four months without meeting, taking into account that the work requires study time and execution, is "very worrying" if the City wants to push a new regulation of Participación Ciudadana, "at the height of the needs of the residents of Murcia."
"We are concerned that the hurry is carried out a process that does not guarantee citizen participation," said Ramos in this regard, who recalled that his training was the first to submit amendments to the aforementioned Regulation to make it more transparent and increase intervention neighborhood in the public affairs of its neighborhoods and districts.
Among those amendments was one for the direct designation of the members of the municipal boards through a third ballot box, thus avoiding their "finger-by-hand" selection by the municipal groups.
Now, with the "paralysis" of the commission and the few months left for the conclusion of the current Corporation, "it is very possible that the advances remain on paper."
