The researcher of the University of Murcia José Ángel Baños has obtained the First Prize for Poetic Research Pablo García Baena, organized by the University of Córdoba and endowed with 2,000 euros.
Baños has achieved this recognition thanks to the work entitled Postmodernity and Deautomatization: the Classical Tradition and the Bible in Contemporary Spanish Poetry.
The award also includes the publication of the work through UCOpress, the publisher of the University of Córdoba.
In its ruling, the composite jury has highlighted the high quality of its methodological proposals, the rigor of its textual analysis and the mastery of the corpus of Spanish poetry from the mid-20th century to the present.
The jury has especially valued that study addresses a mixed canon of contemporary poetry with a balanced presence of texts by women and men poets.
The awarded work deepens in the knowledge of the tendencies that are designing the intellectual discourse of the poetry of the present.
José Ángel Baños is 22 years old and is a research fellow (FPU) at the University of Murcia.
He has completed a Master's Degree in European Comparative Literature, being a Collaboration Scholar (MECD) in the Department of Spanish Literature, and a Degree in Spanish Language and Literature at the UMU, having obtained the Extraordinary End-of-Career Award.
