The International University of the Sea has delivered on Tuesday the 'Prize for the idea and creative design of the advertising campaign of the 2019 edition of the International University of the Sea - Campus Mare Nostrum' in an act that has taken place in the gallery of rectors of Convalescence
The winner of the design that will represent the 36th edition of Unimar is Alejandro Quevedo Sánchez, researcher in the Department of Prehistory, Archeology, Ancient History, Medieval History and Historiographic Sciences and Techniques of the University of Murcia.
The author has stated that the idea of its design starts from three fundamental axes.
In the first place, "I wanted to reflect the research topic in which I work: Roman ceramics in general, and amphorae in particular."
In the second place, he pointed out that his research group has always participated offering courses and summer activities for Universidad del Mar. Finally, the winner explained that the amphora that appears in the image symbolizes a container of knowledge that "we rescue from the bottom from sea".
Alejandro Quevedo pointed out that, in addition, this type of amphora "was produced in the Roman era in the areas of Águilas and Mazarrón and we thought that they did not circulate much but, later, we have discovered that they have traveled throughout the Roman Empire".
In a way, it has tried to capture in its proposal that the local, like this type of amphora and Unimar courses, can have an international dimension.
The event was attended by Alicia Rubio, vice-chancellor of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society of the UMU;
Sergio Amat Plata, vice chancellor of Students, University Extension and Sports of the UPCT;
and Mª Mercedes Bernabé Pérez, director of the International University of the Sea, who congratulated the winner of the award and emphasized the quality of the works submitted to the contest in this edition.
