People with disabilities take the floor to fight prejudice and conquer universal accessibility (03/12/2018)

The Plenary Hall hosted this afternoon the institutional act on the occasion of the International Day of People with Disabilities, which is commemorated today, an occasion that more than fifty representatives of different federations and Murcia associations belonging to this group wanted to take advantage of to claim , through the reading of a Manifesto, "that our rights over ignorance or prejudice prevail" and the defense of "universal accessibility, since without it there are no human rights for people with disabilities".

The mayor said that "the Constitution states that all Spaniards are born free and equal in rights and obligations, and although it seems that much progress has been made in freedom, not so much in equality" and addressed the attendees stating that "you are the responsible to remind us that we are all the same, regardless of our physical or intellectual abilities ".

"There are not capable and not capable people, but people with determination willing to reach their goals with effort and courage, which are the qualities that characterize you," said José Ballesta, who added that "your dignity and illusion is exactly the same as that of Any other Murcia and from the City we want to put ourselves at your service to realize that right to equality and full inclusion. "

The closing came with the performance of Joel Abraham Toapanta Bombón, from ASPANPAL, who performed a work by the German composer CWGluck.
