This Monday, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Crue-Estudias Estudiantiles launches the #masQservicios campaign, with which it wants to publicize its work and the importance of the work carried out with the objective of achieving equity and equality of opportunities for all people with disabilities.
The Support Services for People with Disabilities of Spanish universities are the engine of change to achieve a more inclusive, tolerant, accessible and transparent society.
Since the nineties, Spanish universities have implemented processes to facilitate access and inclusion of people with disabilities that were gradually arriving in our university classrooms.
In that time, we have consolidated support services for people with disabilities in our universities and we have fully embraced the principles of educational inclusion in accordance with international, national and university legislation.
In 2009, the universities created the Network of Support Services for Persons with Disabilities in the University (SAPDU Network), integrated within CrueAsuntos Estudiantiles.
Currently, we serve more than 22,000 people, which means that in a decade we have increased the attention to this group by more than 125%.
Despite all this, there is still much to be done.
As reflected in the 2017 ODISMET report, 15% of people with disabilities have university degrees compared to 33% of the general population with a university degree.
We are on the right track and we will continue to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities, both inside and outside the university system.
We are convinced that this transversal approach concerns the entire university community and society.
Objectives of the campaign:
Publicize the SAPDU Network on the International Day of Disability
Make visible the situation of students with disabilities.
Action:
An institutional video has been made from the SAPDU Network that collects the situation of people with disabilities with regard to Higher Education, a brief presentation of the network and the answer in a word to the question: "What does the SAPDU Network mean? we?".
This video will be broadcast today, International Day of People with Disabilities, from the institutional accounts of all universities and from Crue Universities of Spain, with the hashtag #masQservicios and with an invitation to the university community to share in videos and tweets what they suppose Support Services for Persons with Disabilities in the University.
