The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilors of Traffic, Security and Citizen Protection, Lola Sánchez, and of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, and the president of the Murcia Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida ( Amupheb), Carmen Gil, inaugurated today the first parking solidarity in Murcia, with which the city earns about 80 free parking spaces, next to the FREMM.
"We added a new dissuasive parking in a strategic area to the portfolio of services in the city of Murcia, next to the highway to the city, the FREMM, several schools and health infrastructures," said José Ballesta, who added that "it is free parking, although, for the first time in Murcia, we are going to rehearse a model of solidary management in the hands of the Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida. "
This space, which is located in the neighborhood of San Antón, next to the access ramp to Ronda Norte, occupies an area of ​​3,000 m2.
It is the first solidary parking in the region because, although it can be used completely free, drivers can give a voluntary donation to the Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida, which has an information booth in the parking lot, in which volunteers disclose and report on this disease and the activity carried out by the association.
Of this form the murcianos have, from today, of a new zone of parking delimited by the streets San Antón, Street of the Norias, Olof Palme Street and New Street of San Antón, and to the users of different public services like the FREMM , the Maestro José Castaño school or the Jesús y María school.
The works began at the end of last May and the works have involved an investment of 140,000 euros.
Support for those affected with spina bifida
The Murcian Association of Parents and Children with Spina Bifida (Amupheb), established in 1980, "is one of the oldest and most beloved associations of our municipality," said the mayor.
It is a non-profit organization that has 220 users and whose mission is to promote the quality of life and the full integration of those affected by spina bifida and their families through activities and assistance services, educational, recreational , labor, training, cultural, sports ...
Adapted vehicles, motorcycles and a bike park
The parking has been raised with a central street of 5.50 meters wide and two side parking bands.
Each square has dimensions of 2.50 by 4.50 meters.
This allows the creation of 71 places for vehicles (three of them for cars adapted for people with reduced mobility), placed in line, six places for motorcycles and a bicycle-park.
In addition, on the new sidewalk that has been built, light points have been installed with low consumption LED lighting and 14 trees have been planted.
