The City Council will contribute 524,220 euros per year to finance both lines.
The Governing Board has approved the agreement that will incorporate two important new features in the public transport service: the recovery of the owl bus and the modification of line 26 between El Palmar and Murcia to serve the users of Aljucer.
These improvements are reflected in the collaboration agreement between the City of Murcia and the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure of the Autonomous Community for the implementation of improvements in public transport in Murcia lines 26B and lines of night services, and are part of the agreement with Citizens for the approval of the 2018 budgets.
Although both lines are not local competition, but autonomic, the City of Murcia, within the framework of its policy of promoting urban transport and mobility, will contribute 524,220.48 euros per year to finance the implementation of these improvements that have been requested both by users, and by the Municipal Transportation Board composed of different representatives of political groups, social agents and users.
In this way, the bus owl will reconnect the districts with the city during weekend nights.
This fulfills the commitment announced by the City Council to recover this service that facilitates the mobility of young people in a comfortable and safe way.
For this, this service is established on lines 28 (Sangonera La Verde), 30 (Zeneta), 44 (Rincón de Beniscornia), 91 (Sangonera la Seca), 31 (Alquerías) and 36 (Cobatillas).
There will be three one and three return expeditions in each of them on Fridays, Saturdays and Vespers, totaling 98 days of service and 3,528 annual expeditions, with the presence of security guards in all of them.
The price of the normal ticket will be 3 euros and 5 € if it is purchased roundtrip, but there will be a voucher available at a price of € 2.
The annual cost of these night services will be 372,938 euros.
Claiming the users of line 61
That same date there will also be an improvement on line 26, which will respond to an old claim by users of the missing line 61. The modification will involve the connection of the districts of San José de la Montaña, El Palmar and San Ginés, including also a new stop in Aljucer.
In this case, 14 expeditions are established on weekdays and 5 on Saturdays, with an annual cost of 342,638 euros.
Collaboration to implement improvements
The agreement, which has received approval today by the Governing Board, must be approved by the Autonomous Community.
In this case, the collaboration is regulated to establish the legal and economic regime of the municipal contribution as global financing to promote the public transport of passengers and necessary collaboration between both administrations for the implementation of improvements consisting of the extension of the services provided through the line 26, and lines 28, 30, 44, 91, 31 and 36 (night services).
The City of Murcia will contribute to the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia an amount amounting to 252,630.79 euros for line 26B and 271,589.69 euros for lines 28, 30, 44, 91, 31 and 36 (night services) , for the provision of the service the first year.
