More than 20 events make up the centenary program, aimed at club members and supporters
The Murcia Club de Tenis 1919 has presented this morning the program of events with which it will celebrate its centenary by announcing the dispute of an ATP Challenger tournament in the month of April.
More than twenty sporting, social, cultural and recreational events make up the calendar of activities that will last throughout 2019 inside and outside the facilities of the Murcian club.
Antonio Saura, president of the Murcia Tennis Club 1919, has been in charge of presenting the centenary events at a press conference that has also counted with the presence of the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, as well as the president of the Federation of Tennis of the Region of Murcia, José Alcolea, and tennis player Nico Almagro.
"The centenary is a good time to remember all the people who, thanks to their effort and that of the almost 5,000 members with whom the club currently has, have made the Murcia Tennis Club 1919 what it is today. : a regional, national and international reference ", said the highest representative of the entity.
To celebrate its 100 years of history, the Murcia Club de Tenis 1919 has designed an intergenerational program so that all members and supporters of the club, regardless of their age, can participate equally in this milestone.
As the central event of the centenary, Saura has announced the celebration of a new Challenger ATP category tournament during the month of April at the Murcia Club de Tenis facilities.
The sports event, which will distribute 46,000 euros in prizes, will have an individual mode (48 players) and doubles (16 pairs).
An exhibition match between first-class ATP players, a period tournament, the screening of a documentary at the Regional Film Archive, the publication of a centenary book as well as the celebration of a classical music concert with a sports theme are other of the highlights of the annual program that will start in January with a delivery of sports and social trophies to different personalities of the sports, social and cultural world.
"Each of the events that we celebrate will be an occasion to look back and know or remember the path our cub has traveled in these one hundred years, but still looking forward and projecting the future," added Saura.
New logo and poster
The presentation has also served to publicize the new logo of the centenary, an adaptation of the current that incorporates, as an added element, two laurels on the flanks as a triumphal crown and the word "centennial" at their feet.
In addition, the poster commemorating the hundred years of history of the Murcia Tennis Club, work of the artist Alfonso del Moral, has been presented.
The Murcia Tennis Club 1919 is a non-profit sport association whose objectives include promoting physical and sports activity in our city and our region, especially tennis, as well as contributing to the preparation and training of future tennis players. through a school.
At present, it has almost 5,000 members and more than 600 federal licenses, which makes it one of the clubs with the greatest social mass in the entire Region.
Currently, more than 10,000 people pass through its facilities, more than 20,000 tennis players have been trained at its school and it has hosted more than 1,000 competitions.
The facilities of Murcia Tennis Club 1919 have a total of 22,000 square meters of surface to develop their activities.
It has 13 clay courts, 2 fast tracks, 4 paddle courts, swimming pool, 7-a-side football track, gym, spinning and pilates room and social building (restaurant, cafeteria, changing rooms, recreational games room and saunas) .
All this has allowed it to become one of the most avant-garde sports and leisure associations in the Region of Murcia.
Murcia Tennis Club 1919 occupies one of the first positions in the national tennis ranking, in terms of category and federative licenses is concerned, allowing you to show the category 'Gold Club', which only have 10 entities in Spain.

JANUARY
Trophy Delivery: gala dinner that will serve as a ceremony for the delivery of sports and social trophies to different personalities of the sports, social and cultural world.
FEBRUARY
Book of the Centenary: act of presentation of a book that will compile the 100 years of history of the MCT with historical photographs, ceded by members and supporters of the club.
MARCH
Documentary of the Centenary: presentation in the Regional Film Archive of a documentary that tells the history of the Club, with reports and interviews with its most outstanding protagonists.
Day of coexistence: celebration of a day of coexistence with all the partners and friends of the MCT.
APRIL
Photographic Exhibition: exhibition of large format photographs in the heart of Murcia (Avenida de la Libertad) that will capture historical moments of the city and the club.
ATP Challenger Tournament: Challenger category international championship that will bring together ATP players and will distribute 46,000 euros in prizes.

MAY
Street Tennis: tennis will go to the street with the hand of the Murcia Tennis Club of a day of "open courts" in order to enjoy the best outdoor sport and promote the exhibition party that same month.
Exhibition party: organization of an exhibition match with first level players of the national and / or international circuit.
Concierto del Centenario: solidarity performance of classical music with sports theme.
JUNE
Tournament of time: a championship will be disputed in the facilities of the Murcia Club of Tennis in which it will be obligatory to play with wooden racket and habitual clothes of 1919.
Padel and swimming tournaments: additional tournaments will be organized to highlight other important sports for the Murcia Tennis Club such as paddle tennis and swimming.
Exhibition of tennis and adapted paddle tennis: in this important year for the Murcia Tennis Club it is also intended to pay tribute to the effort and dedication of great and anonymous athletes.

Spanish Team Championship: the Murcia Tennis Club will host, for the third consecutive year, the most important team tournament in Spain after being proclaimed champion of it in 2018.
