El Moneo will light up in violet on the occasion of the International Day Against Gender Violence (24/11/2018)

The City of Murcia once again illuminates the facade of the Violet Moneo building on the occasion of the International Day Against Gender Violence, which is celebrated on November 25.

The Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, directed by Conchita Ruiz, has carried out various awareness activities such as the concert of choirs 'Voices against violence'.

This program will be extended until next Wednesday, with the completion of a CEPAIM workshop, which will take place on November 22, 26 and 28, at its headquarters in the neighborhood of Carmen and at the Hospitality School of Caritas.

On Thursday an activity was organized by the association Cermi Murcia, within the II Forum of Women with Disabilities and on Friday, the City of Murcia awarded volunteers Violet Points for their commitment against violence against women.

The recognition has been extended to the three institutions that promote and promote volunteering: Red Cross, Civil Protection and the Municipal Volunteer Offices.

'The door is open' 365 days a year

The City Council works 365 days a year to combat violence against women and provide comprehensive care to children who also suffer from it, through different axes: intensifying awareness and awareness measures, paying special attention to involve youth and associations, and, of course, support for victims.

The Family Protection and Attention Team of the Local Police works in collaboration with the EMAVI, the Municipal Team for Attention to Gender Violence of the City of Murcia, which, providing comprehensive care to the victims, about 300 women a year, to guide and support them in the process of overcoming this situation.

In addition, the City of Murcia informs and sensitizes on prevention of violence against women to the population in general and to specific groups, through different projects such as 'Love we feel good', aimed at students in secondary education and vocational training, or 'Action against gender violence', aimed at students of training centers and employment initiatives.

It is also prevented and reported in neighborhood parties and districts through Violet Points.
