In the XXXI Congress of the Spanish Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology, which was attended by more than a thousand specialists, Carlos Jareño was distinguished for his study on hypersensitivity reactions caused by the taking of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as paracetamol, ibuprofen, metamizole and diclofenac , among others.
The graduate of Medicine of the UCAM focused his final year work in studying a sample of patients referred to allergology consultation referring adverse reactions to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
The hypersensitivity detected was caused by exposure to paracetamol, ibuprofen, metamizole or diclofenac.
The importance of the study is given because these drugs are the most used by the population, increasing hypersensitivity reactions among patients.
"This is the second cause of hypersensitivity reactions to drugs, after antibiotics, and its diagnosis presents important difficulties due to the wide pattern of symptoms and the variety of physiopathological mechanisms involved, both immune and non-immune", says Carlos Jareño, based on the scientific articles referenced in the work.
This Final Degree Project earned Carlos Jareño the prize in the category of "Student" at the XXXI Congress of the Spanish Society of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (SEIAC), an encounter that addresses annually the innovation and evolution of technical and scientific advances in the field of allergology.
