The University of Murcia and Banco Santander today renewed their collaboration agreement for the development of projects aimed at reinforcing the quality of teaching, contributing to the excellence of the research activity, promoting the transfer of research results, improving the efficiency of the academic management and to reinforce the international projection of the UMU, among other objectives.
The agreement, which gives continuity to the collaboration that both institutions have maintained for more than ten years to promote academic programs, will be valid for two years and will involve a contribution of 600,000 euros per year to the University of Murcia by Banco Santander.

Rector Luján has stressed that this agreement "reinforces a relationship of more than twenty years."
The rector thanked "the support and support function that Santander Universities complies since Emilio Botín decided that his corporate social responsibility will be focused on the universities, we owe a lot to that decision, which is materialized day by day in actions that contribute to the development of the universities and our projection, inside and outside our borders ".
For his part, Matías Rodríguez Inciarte stressed that "from Santander Universities we have the conviction that the way to contribute to making societies more sustainable is to support initiatives that promote educational equity through scholarship programs that promote access to higher education and international mobility, employment and entrepreneurship, the digital transformation of the university and that promote the transfer of knowledge ".
The agreement includes the collaboration and development of programs that encourage entrepreneurship through activities and calls of the UMU Entrepreneurship Center and the Santander X project. In the field of research, the agreement is specified with the provision of scholarships directed to students, professors and researchers of the University of Murcia.
Special attention will be given to the actions aimed at the incorporation of young researchers.
In the same way, the agreement will allow the co-financing of international mobility scholarships, with the aim of enhancing the internationalization of the teaching institution.
In addition, the alliance between both institutions will allow the joint commitment to the digital transformation of management processes through the University Digital Innovation Center, among other initiatives.
The digitization of old funds of the University will be another of the concrete projects that will be carried out through the Virtual Library Foundation.
