Yesterday a part of the cornice of the Conservatory of Dance of Murcia, where important activities such as "flamenco" (art considered Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO) was developed.
Due to the statements of the mother of a student who has witnessed the events, we have learned that the rubble has fallen by the building's access door, with serious risk to the integrity of the users of the building and the passers-by.
The firefighters who have intervened in the removal of the rubble have informed him that they have reviewed the cornice but can not guarantee the safety of the facade of the building given its notable deterioration.
From VOX Murcia denounce the neglect in the maintenance of the building "Seminar of San Fulgencio", where currently is the Conservatory of Dance of Murcia.
We demand the immediate installation of a protective mesh that avoids the serious risk posed by the detachment of the cornice, and we demand the necessary repair that guarantees the physical integrity of the hundreds of people who access the building or remain under said cornice throughout the day .
According to the students, there are many defects and deterioration of the property and its facilities.
It has serious lack of ventilation, which forces them to withstand high temperatures during the development of classes;
lacks enough dance bars;
the floors are broken;
and the roof of a classroom fell three years ago, in addition to the dimensions of most of the classrooms are more than insufficient.
The situation is unsustainable and greatly hinders the normal development of the center's activity.
It is time that the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Region of Murcia, assume its responsibility and attend to the restoration of the property and adequacy of its facilities, and from VOX we urge you to do so.
