The Governing Board has approved, at the proposal of the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, the granting of grants to four entities in the field of disability with the aim of building a more inclusive Murcia, which meets the needs and promotes welfare of all people.
The aid will be directed to sustain different actions with the common nexus of seeking that full integration through the development of projects that benefit all Murcia, with special attention to those who have different capacities.
In the case of the Association for the Integration of the Disabled Psychics (CEOM), it will receive a grant of 11,000 euros for the development of the "sheltered housing for people with intellectual disabilities" program.
This initiative allows to make available to people with mental disabilities who request it and their families, the necessary resources to initiate an approach, training and learning to a model of independent housing to the family in order to promote social inclusion.
This experience is aimed at heterogeneous groups composed of a maximum of nine users of the association who rotate each month for a house in which they live, regardless of their family, throughout the year.
Among the selection criteria is the family situation, the possibility of accessing other resources, basic skills and behavioral problems, integration of social norms or absence of health problems.
Leisure and school of life with Fundown
For its part, Fundown (Down Syndrome Foundation) will have a grant, amounting to 42,000 euros, which aims to sustain the projects "Inclusive Leisure for People with Psychic Disability" and "School of Life: Shared Housing Program" .
The first of them, pursues the promotion of knowledge and skills so that the group of people with intellectual disabilities can enjoy leisure autonomously.
The activities are carried out in standardized environments and in integration, carrying out an important task of social awareness and education of the community about the potential of people with intellectual disabilities by providing meeting points in the different social resources and recreational spaces.
The users will be 50, distributed by groups of no more than 10 people aged between 16 and 55 years.
Regarding the School of Life project: Shared Housing Program, it is based on the coexistence of people with intellectual disabilities and students of the University of Murcia, under conditions of equality, with the aim of implementing a model of progressive training that allows a training for the independent life of people with intellectual disabilities in all the contexts in which they develop, that is, family, training, work and relational.
This project is aimed at 14 people with disabilities and seven students from the University of Murcia, as well as their families.
Awareness and training to improve the quality of life
On the other hand, the City Council of Murcia and Plena Inclusión have signed a collaboration agreement and under which a grant is granted for the development of its annual program of activities, whose fundamental objectives are to defend the dignity and rights of people with disabilities. intellectual disability and cerebral palsy, carry out training, information and coexistence activities aimed at people with disabilities, as well as expand the training of the professionals of the member entities of Plena Inclusión, whose actions are:
· Days of transformation of services towards the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.
Days directed to some 200 people of the organizations that are part of Plena Inclusión.
· Journey of Teams Guide.
With the planned participation of 10 work teams about 80-90 members in total.
· ABASS-II seminar.
Adaptive behavior evaluation system.
Attended assistance of 15 professionals.
· Course of new management skills to build participatory entities, aimed at 25 members of management teams and managers of Plena Inclusión.
The objective of these sensitization and training projects is to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy, as well as to promote the associative movement integrated in the Federation.
To do this, the Governing Board has approved an aid of € 9,000.
Day center for disabled people with social marginalization
Likewise, it has received authorization to grant a grant of 11,000 euros to the Foundation for Aid, Training and Integration of the Disabled (AFIM) to develop the project "Day Center for Persons with Disabilities of Social Marginalization".
The objective is to offer a safe, accessible and adapted habitat to the functional needs of the users, improving their quality of life, favoring their personal development and social integration, avoiding income in unwanted residential centers.
Thus, the person is allowed to remain in their family and social environment, leading a life as normal as possible.
The center offers different services, as well as specific intervention programs (therapeutic and ongoing training of professional caregivers), contemplating people with some degree of dependency, the family carer and the center itself.
Among its services are: basic services (transportation, maintenance and assistance in the basic activities of daily life), therapeutic services (psychosocial care, occupational therapy and health care), cognitive services (occupational tapestry workshops, crafts, mold, etc. ., courses on care of the environment, workshop of cognitive stimulation, relaxation and positive thinking) and the service of labor integration for the search of employment, with employment, on-line training ...).
The project is aimed at people with intellectual disabilities and their families, which involves approximately 50 men and 40 women between the ages of 18 and 65.
