The Mayor of Murcia visits the exhibition "La Vida Misma", which aims to make the different types of poverty visible today (14/11/2018)

The awareness campaign 'La Vida Misma', developed by the Jesus Abandoned Foundation and the San Juan de Dios Hospital Order (OHSJD), will remain in the City of Murcia throughout the week, after passing through the Las Claras cultural center, of the Cajamurcia Foundation, and the Regional Library.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the head of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, wanted to visit this exhibition, located at the entrance of the Moneo Building, and which aims to publicize the different types of poverty that we We can find in our society today.

The member of the Board of the Foundation Jesus Abandoned, Gustavo Melgares, and the Superior of the Hospitaller Order in the Region of Murcia, Brother Martín Cuenca, were present at this visit, where they had the opportunity to show them the axis of this campaign of awareness, a cardboard house, where society is invited to enter, in order to teach different situations of daily exclusion.

Stories like those of Teresa and Paco, Hamida, Manuel or María, tell the viewer real experiences of users of social canteens or people living in the street or in shelters, or who lack the resources to pay gas and electricity bills, as well as poor workers who can not cover the basic needs of their families.

The exhibition, illustrated by Juan Berrio, is also supported by the website www.lavidamisma-sjd.org and four videos to publicize the reality of people who are in situations of social exclusion or at risk of being.

Both Melgares and Martín Cuenca thanked the City of Murcia for their interest and sensitivity to the situation that the most vulnerable people face every day, as well as their support for the dissemination of this campaign as well as the different actions carried out by both the Jesus Abandoned Foundation as the OHSJD.

The Jesus Abandoned Foundation carries out its work in the Region of Murcia together with the San Juan de Dios Hospital Order (OHSJD), and its services and resources are available 365 days a year.

It has 248 accommodation places, distributed in a Welcome Center, the 'Housing First' program, housing with support and a social pension, as well as a Social Dining Room that serves around 300 meals and 300 dinners a day.

Likewise, Jesús Abandonado has an area of ​​employment and training with programs for labor insertion, where it develops initiatives and interventions that facilitate the access of the homeless to a paid work activity.
