The Plaza del Romea hosted today the presentation of the show 'Adiós Arturo', the new assembly that the prestigious company La Cubana brings to Murcia more than ten years after its last performance in the city and that combines theater, music and humor.
The event was attended by the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesús Pacheco, and members of the company.
José Ballesta stressed that "this comedy with surrealist touches, which has triumphed in different Spanish capitals and has been seen by 88,000 spectators will be on the line from December 5 to 16, at the Romea Theater."
The work is a song to life that laughs at the world of burials and funerals, a crazy comedy that arrives as one of the highlights of the 2018/2019 Program of the Theaters of Murcia.
The mayor recalled that in the past season 2017/2018 more than 170,000 people passed through both theaters, which is an increase of 20%, "that this season we hope to exceed," he said.
'Adiós Arturo' premiered last May in Valencia and since then has visited Pamplona, Torrelavega, Vitoria, Bilbao, Logrońo, again in Valencia, Castellón, Altea and Elche.
After going to Elda you will arrive in Murcia.
135 works have been performed, which has been seen by 88,000 spectators.
What's 'Adiós Arturo' about?
From the theater of life: from the theater that is on the street, in the markets, at work, in the family, with friendships and where La Cubana displays its interpretative skills by attending "paripés", parties, weddings, baptisms, communions and burials.
From the death at the age of 101 of the fictional character Arturo Cirera Mompou, the versatile internationally known artist, born in Murcia in 1917, whose father, of Catalan origin, acted as a family doctor in the city.
The public will know the 'true script' of the life of this writer, painter, sculptor, art collector, poet, musical composer, playwright, actor and Murcian director.
The secret and the surprise are again the protagonists of the show.
'Adiós Arturo' is a song to life and how to live it intensely, leaving in evidence all the social conventions that make it difficult for us to do so.
A crazy comedy, with touches 'surreal' and that, as always, will be dressed with the things that characterize the La Cubana style: audience participation, music, surprises and lots of humor.
A show written and directed by Jordi Milán, performed by: Jaume Baucis, Xavi Tena, Toni Torres, Nuria Benet, Ă€lex GonzĂ lez, Babeth Ripoll, Montse Amat, Toni Sans, Edu Ferrés and Virginia Melgar.
