The councilor of Cambiemos Murcia, Margarita Guerrero, today requested explanations to the delegate of the Government in the Region, Diego Conesa, for the raid carried out this Thursday by the National Police in the neighborhood of Carmen, next to the José Loustau school, against immigrants without papers or with an expulsion order.
Guerrero has lamented the use by the State of practices like this, denounced by social organizations for their "racist" character and the non-compliance with the human rights of migrants.
As explained by the mayor, for a long time these operations have not been carried out, being the first in the municipality "of which we have knowledge since Conesa is a Government delegate".
In this regard, he recalled the work of groups such as Refugees Welcome, which launched a citizen mapping initiative to document racist raids in the countries of the European Union, or the network Acoge, which put a telephone number at the disposal of victims and witnesses of raids in Madrid.
The mayor has highlighted the effects of immigration policy of the European Union focused more on border control, paying third countries to do the dirty work, as is the case in Libya where it has already been found the trafficking of beings with migrants in transit, that in guaranteeing the fundamental rights of these people.
"An example of this is the existence of an Immigration Detention Center in our own municipality," he added.
"There are no illegal people and being in an irregular situation is an administrative infraction, so insisting on labeling illegal immigrants is criminalizing these people who in most cases have come to Spain endangering their lives after fleeing the horror of the war, the effects of climate change or repression, as is the case of the Rif ", he concluded.
