The spokesman of the municipal group of Cambiemos Murcia, Nacho Tornel, has today considered a "lack of respect" that the Autonomous Community has not yet dismantled the booths installed in the Malecón garden for the Week of Science and Technology of the Region, which ended 10 days ago, on October 28.
"The regional government, which likes to be exhibited, should have a little respect for the municipality of Murcia and users," Tornel insisted, who has also claimed the mayor, José Ballesta, to take action on the matter and demand to the Community that "stop occupying the garden if, as now, no activity is taking place there".
The mayor has recalled the value of the botanical garden, which dates back to 1845 and was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), and the surroundings of the walk, and has asked the councilor to "extend" the Murcia River project to that space to protect it from the degradation suffered for years by the celebration of multitudinous acts.
In this regard, has raised the need for the government team to implement a motion submitted by the municipal training in October 2016, and approved unanimously, which called for the construction of a fairground designed as a large garden and equipped of the necessary infrastructures and services.
The implementation of this initiative would allow the protection, recovery and enhancement of the Malecón garden as a patrimonial set of Murcia and Murcia.
