The Department of Art History of the University of Murcia and the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art of Orihuela, fruit of the close collaboration between both institutions, have organized the First National Symposium `La Seo de Orihuela in the context of the Hispanic cathedrals', which will take place in the Faculty of Letters and in the facilities of the aforementioned diocesan museum, on November 7, 8 and 9.
La Seo de Orihuela is one of the least known Hispanic cathedrals, constituting nevertheless an extraordinary example of the concept of cathedral temple that is formed from the Council of Trent and the Counter-Reformation.
This symposium aims to contextualize the different historical and patrimonial episodes that this temple gathers and its connection with other Spanish and Latin American cathedral realities.
