This report carried out by the independent laboratory, Massalia Ingenieros SL, concludes that the values derived in the laboratory from the contaminating elements are totally below the standard NGR (Reference Generic Levels) as regards the protection of the Human health
This work has a specific Environmental Monitoring Program that guarantees that the works are being carried out in a land clean of noxious or dangerous sediments
The works are supervised by technicians and have been approved and authorized by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura, the Ministry of Development and the General Directorate of Cultural Assets of the CARM, a necessary measure to carry out the execution of the work
An approved scientific report, dated October 15, determines that the area of the Riverwalk is "free of contaminants."
This report, carried out by the independent laboratory, Massalia Ingenieros SL, within the specific Environmental Monitoring Program of Murcia Río, has been carried out by taking samples manually in the Segura River and transferring them to a laboratory to determine the state of the soil on which is working.
This study concludes that "the values determined in the laboratory of the contaminating elements are totally below the standard NGR (Reference Generic Levels) as regards the protection of human health".
Furthermore, it adds that "in terms of the values for the protection of ecosystems, none of them is quantified higher than those established as maximums, taking into account the limit of quantification used".
"It has also been possible to determine the concentration of TPH (total oil hydrocarbons) that yields reduced values, below the limits of quantification" the report concludes.
For the preparation of this document, the regulations of Royal Decree 9/2005 (January 14) have been used, establishing the list of potentially contaminating soil activities and the standard criteria for the declaration of contaminated soils.
The investigation has been carried out for the preparation of the technical memory of the project, which has consisted in the realization of field works, laboratory tests and cabinet works.
The objective of this study is to present a chemical analysis of the soil condition of the place where the works are being carried out.
This analytical characterization aims to assess the possibility that significant contamination has occurred in the soil on which it is working.
The elements of heavy metals that have been analyzed are arsenic, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, mercury, nickel, lead, zinc and hydrocarbons.
The organic matter observed is lower than the reference levels.
According to the study "the sampling is done manually, taking a point of measurement in the bed of the Segura River and transported under suitable conditions to the laboratory, where it is processed to be tested with the standardized methods to be used."
The works are supervised by technicians, have all permissions and permissions and have been authorized by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Segura, Ministry of Development and General Directorate of Cultural Property of the CARM.
