Ronda Sur is going to have the broadest study room of how many has been built so far by the City of Murcia, through the Department of Education, Relations with Universities and Heritage, directed by Rafael Gómez.
Located in the Lane de la Condesa, corner c / José Antonio Camacho, has an area of ​​511.64 m2, which allows a capacity of 242 study places.
At present, work is being done on the access control system via the Internet and on the air conditioning of the room.
The Governing Board has approved today the specifications for contracting the furniture of these dependencies and those of Alquerías.
In this case, the Alquerías Municipal Study Room is located on Calle Escuelas, and has an area of ​​187.29 m2, enough to install 60 study places.
The budget to provide general and auxiliary furniture to these branches amounts to € 123,628.
In total, 61 tables, 302 chairs, 100 liters outdoor litter bins with ashtrays and 50 liter interiors and other complementary furniture will be purchased in addition to the mandatory and informative signage.
The furnishing project pursues at the same time the use of the space available to where the regulation of occupation of public spaces allows and that the setting is cozy and comfortable, but without entailing excessive relaxation that would waste the time of study.
The tables, both standard and custom-made, are equipped with rectangular aluminum LED-type lighting and an electrification system with a sliding lid for plugging in laptops, tablets, mobile phones, etc .;
the chairs, on the other hand, are stackable with metallic structure and polypropylene seat and backrest, looking for comfort and ease of cleaning and maintenance.
24 hour rooms
The 24 hours branches of the Municipal Network of Study Rooms are equipped, in addition to the furniture whose contracting has been approved, of free internet connection (wifi), standard and stabilized sockets of current, even in the tables, Integrated System of Control of Internet access (access, CCTV surveillance with recording, intrusion and fire alarms, climate control and lighting, SOS notification and connection to the reception center) and, if space permits, lockers or shelves for the deposit of objects (backpacks, motorcycle or bicycle helmets, etc.)
The City of Murcia promotes and assumes the creation of the Municipal Network of Study Rooms, dependent on the Municipal Library Network of Murcia (RMBM), to provide an adequate space for the development of academic activities, regulated or not, offering the necessary amenities so that students, over 16 years, can study in a quiet environment and with the essential concentration.
