The University of Murcia wants to encourage and standardize the alternative of entrepreneurship among its students as an attractive professional outlet in any branch of knowledge or degree.
To carry out this task, since last July, the UMUemprende office is in operation, managed by the vice-rector for Employment, Entrepreneurship and Society.
Since the beginning of the academic year, the office is holding meetings and seminars in the centers and faculties of the University of Murcia to present their activities and sow the seeds of interest in creating a company in the future.
"The idea is to make students aware of the options they have and, above all, to present them with references, people who from their own branch of knowledge have chosen to create their own company, so that they do not see only the uncertainty the decision to undertake, "explains Antonio Aragón, head of UMUemprende.
In addition to these sessions, the office is working on the promotion of end of degree and master's degree projects that aim to develop a business idea.
One of these initiatives is the coordinated work between several faculties.
"For example, a student with a computer profile can carry out a TFG project to develop a prototype and, in a coordinated way, a student with an economic profile can perform a TFG that develops the business idea for that prototype. they work jointly the vision of market on a real product ", points Aragón.
In addition, the UMUemprende awards have also been announced, which reward the best business ideas, and soon an 'Explorer' call will be made.
Young people with ideas', sponsored by Santander, and which will allow selecting 20 projects whose authors can attend a complete training plan to make their idea come true.
In the short term, the goal is to create an entrepreneurial culture among those who study at the University and give them specific training so that they acquire the qualities that those who dare to create their own business should have: resilience, ability to solve problems and ability to work as a team , among other.
The objective of the office in the medium and long term is to increase the number of companies born within the University of Murcia.
Over the coming months, the UMUemprende office will be specifying more actions that are already being prepared.
