The UCAM sport complied with its traditional floral offering to the Virgen de la Fuensanta at the beginning of the 2018-19 season.
Nearly one thousand athletes participated in this event, which was presided over by José Luis Mendoza, president of the UCAM, and José Manuel Lorca Planes, bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena.
In the offering there were some of the most outstanding athletes of the Catholic University of Murcia, such as Ana Carrasco, world champion of motorcycling (Supersport 300);
Tere Nimes, Trail Running Team World Champion;
or the Olympic canoeists Javier Hernanz, Paco Cubelos and Sete Benavides (UCAM Murcia Canoeing Club).
There were also the complete templates of the UCAM Murcia CB (Endesa League and Champions League Basketball), UCAM Murcia CF (Second Division B) and UCAM Cartagena Table Tennis (Female Superdivision).
In addition, the teams sponsored by the UCAM did not miss the appointment and attended with a large representation: Algaida Futsal UCAM, Valverde Team UCAM, UCAM Judo City of Murcia, UCAM Athletics Cartagena, UCAM Cartagena FC, UCAM Murcia Handball, UCAM Murcia Basketball in Wheelchair, UCAM Athleo Cieza, UCAM Probelte Jairis, UCAM El Pozo Murcia (Female Room Soccer), UCAM Club Fuensanta Swimming and ElPozo Murcia Futsal.
Also attended by some of the clubs linked to the University: AD Los Garres, IFA Sports Association, CF Molina Promesas and EF San Miguel.
During the event, José Luis Mendoza thanked the Virgen de la Fuensanta for his protection last season and asked for his help for this new course.
He also stated that "sport is a great element of unity and that is why we promote it in the UCAM".
For his part, Monsignor José Manuel Lorca Planes encouraged the athletes to "continue to be champions, and not only in sports, but in life."
