The Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, directed by José Guillén, is still committed to making the parks and gardens of the municipality spaces of coexistence, leisure, and meeting points between neighbors.
In addition, the tasks of maintenance and conditioning of the green areas respect the 'green cycle' of nature and take care of the environment.
The pruning tasks are carried out with a special machine that creates a material called pruning.
In this way it is achieved that the branches that have been pruned are crushed and serve as an extra element for those green areas.
In particular, with this work methodology, numerous advantages are achieved:
- Water saving by creating a padded layer that retains moisture, which is an improvement to the space where it is deposited.
- A structural improvement of the soil by providing minerals and nutrients that create what is known as a 'green manure'.
- Prevents the growth of weeds by serving as a barrier for germination to reach the soil surface.
- Visual improvement of green areas that are more uniform and aesthetically pleasing to citizens who pass by them every day.
The works are developed with a special machine, known as a biotrituradora, which allows in a few seconds to reduce those remains of pruning in the substance that will later be used in green areas.
In the works, which cover about 500 gardens, work six workers who are responsible for the so-called 'green cycle' of nature is maintained daily.
