The University of Murcia (UMU) moves more than 100 activities to the XVII edition of the Week of Science and Technology (SeCyT), which will take place on October 26, 27 and 28 at the Botanical Garden of the Malecón.
In this science festival, which will gather more than 400 activities, will be present disciplines as heterogeneous as physics, chemistry or engineering, or other branches of knowledge such as history, economics and sociology.
Throughout the weekend, attendees can learn first hand how refugees live, cook through sunlight or create their own animation characters, among many other activities.
You can also enjoy the body painting workshops and the virtuosity of the street artist Virtoc.
In addition, this year as a novelty the Faculty of Optics moves to the event the public intervention in favor of those affected with low vision or blindness.
An initiative that has already been launched in the neighborhood of Santa Eulalia.
Through workshops spread throughout the campus, the UMU researchers will approach their daily work and share their knowledge with young and old as they have been doing since its first edition in 2001. In this way the institution is involved in this activity with the objective to show and bring science closer to society, increase scientific culture among citizens and promote scientific vocations among the youngest.
The SeCyT is an event that takes place during these dates throughout Spain.
In the Region of Murcia it is organized through the Séneca Foundation - Science and Technology Agency, which, under the slogan 'Imagine it with science', transfers science to more than 13,500 meters from the Malecón garden.
On the part of the UMU, the participation in this event is materialized through the Scientific Culture Unit of the Vice-rectorship of Quality, Culture and Communication.
It is a further action within the commitment that the educational institution has for scientific dissemination.
