Juan Francisco Fernández, a fourth-year student of Psychology at the University of Murcia, was proclaimed last October 21, European duathlon champion, in the category of 20 to 24 years.
To get the gold medal around his neck, Juan Francisco had to run ten kilometers, make another forty kilometers on a bicycle and run another five to finish, an achievement he managed to complete in just one hour and fifty-four seconds.
To this championship, held in Ibiza, Juan Francisco attended as champion of Spain in the same category.
One of its next challenges will be the world championship, which will be held in April 2019 in Pontevedra.
Born in Cehegín, this Psychology student has been competing for only two years and is already a champion, although it is not easy to combine the activity with the classes.
"Many times I have to train between classes, I take the bike to the campus, I go to Librilla, I go back, I run, I take a shower and I go to class, and at exam time it's even worse, my classmates say I'm crazy," he explains. laughs Juan Francisco, who says he is "a proud student of the University of Murcia."
