The University of Murcia has inaugurated the sixth edition of the Master's Degree in Corporate Social Responsibility, which has exhausted all available places for this course.
During the ceremony, which took place in the Faculty of Economics and Business, Juan José Almagro gave a lecture entitled `Reflections on CSR today'.
Almagro has been founding president of the Association of Directors of Social Responsibility of Spain, General Director of Mapfre, Vice President of Unicef ​​Spain and is Doctor Honoris Causa by the Catholic University of Córdoba (Argentina) and by the Pontifical University of Salamanca.
At present, he is part of the patronage of various foundations, among which the Rafael Nadal Foundation stands out.
In addition, last June, he was named President of Honor of the Chair of CSR of the University of Murcia.
During his presentation, Almagro shared with the audience his vision of the challenges faced by social responsibility in today's society.
To paraphrase Ban Ki-moon, he started with the appointment of the former Secretary General of the UN "Whoever has the power has the responsibility" to then show that in the current economy power is in the hands of corporations, more than in governments.
He also advocated in his speech the importance of ethics in the work of managers, who must guide organizations in the development and implementation of social responsibility policies.
Finally, Almagro congratulated the Chair of CSR and the University of Murcia for the good work in the development of their activities, in general, and the trajectory of the VI Master's Degree in CSR.
The inauguration of the master's degree was attended by the general director of Labor Relations and Social Economy of the CARM, Nuria Fuentes García-Lax;
the vice-chancellor of Employment Entrepreneurship and Society of the UMU, Alicia Rubio Bañón;
the dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Samuel Baixauli Soler;
the director of the Chair of RSC of the UMU, Longinos Marín Rives;
and the director of the master's degree, Pedro Jesús Cuestas Díaz.
