The mayor Paqui Perez regrets that the lack of infrastructure causes some associations have to meet in cafes with their neighbors to not have space
The mayor of Citizens Paqui Perez will defend an initiative in the Plenary on Thursday demanding the provision of physical spaces for more than twenty collectives and associations of El Palmar, a hamlet of more than 23,000 inhabitants.
"We hope that the local government will approve this motion and make available to the neighbors the closed premises in the district, such as the one located in the La Paz neighborhood, together with the local police;
or the old nursery moved to the center of conciliation and that, to date of today, we do not know its destiny ", has assured Perez.
In this sense, the mayor of Cs has denounced that "this lack of space is forcing some groups to meet in cafeterias, contrary to what is established in the Regulation of Citizen Participation".
He also lamented that El Palmar does not have an audience like Beniaján, Guadalupe Cabezo de Torres, La Alberca or Algezares.
As for the existing spaces, Perez explained that "they do not cover the needs of associations and groups, as happens with the cultural center that has become too small and does not have classrooms to do activities;
or the youth center, which was already small and can barely provide service, beyond what is programmed by the Youth Council, which manages the center. "
Casino situation
"In other occasions, it has continued," the infrastructures are not in the right conditions as it happens with the Casino, a private building hired by the City Council that uses groups and associations that is not accessible, nor has air conditioning, nor meets the minimum requirements to carry out activities ".
Despite these limitations, the mayor of Cs has explained that it is being the oxygen valve for various groups of El Palmar, such as the Spanish Association against Cancer, the Table Tennis Club, the Peña Huertana El Lugarico, the Murcian Association Reiki, Cáritas, the Cycling Club, the IES Sierra de Carrascoy theater company, the Musical Association and the Círculo Cultural El Casino Association, being also used for cultural and festive activities organized by the Municipal Board.
Therefore, the orange mayor will insist on the "need to review the conditions of the rental contract of the Casino and the City of Murcia to study the feasibility of a possible transfer by agreement of this emblematic building, as has recently occurred with the Casino de Los Garres ".
