The home help service provided by the City of Murcia through the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation is essential to facilitate the permanence of dependent and elderly in the environment in which they develop their lives.
Thus, personal autonomy is enhanced, the quality of life improves and social isolation is avoided.
This is the case of María Marín Carrillo, who on April 18 turned 100 years old and can continue residing in her home in Los Ramos because she has social benefits that fulfill this purpose.
The councilor of the area, Conchita Ruiz, visited him this morning to congratulate her and to know firsthand her impressions about the service she receives.
María Marín is a user of home help since 2002 and also receives weekend and holiday services.
Although she lives alone in her house, she has a son who lives very close to her.
In this way, an assistant of the concessionary company, Clesal, goes every day to his home for an hour and a half to perform personal care tasks, preparation of meals, domestic care, etc.
The majority group that requires this service is the elderly, but also, users with disabilities and families are users.
There are currently 2,069 people discharged, with an average age of 86 years and more than 85% are women.
