With the work "Science for inclusion" the professor has achieved the first prize in the category "Science, Engineering and Values" of the nineteenth edition of Science in Action, held from 5 to 7 October in Viladecans (Barcelona), with 400 participants from 9 countries.
The award-winning work, "Science for inclusion", consists of the design and implementation of demonstrations and science workshops, especially aimed at children and young people in adverse situations and at risk of exclusion, to help increase social inclusion and detect talents and scientific vocations among disadvantaged groups.
A second work by Professor Guirao was also selected for the final, entitled "Processing information with electricity and light", which in this case was exposed to the public in the STEM mode.
Science in Action is an international competition whose objective is to present science and technology in an attractive and motivating way, so that young people and the general public are interested in it.
Participating professors, researchers, students and disseminators of Spanish or Portuguese, in any of the scientific disciplines.
For the final, a preliminary selection of works is carried out, which are exposed to the public as a science fair during the days of the contest.
