The Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, presented this morning the IV Conference of Women in the Rural Environment of the Municipality of Murcia that is held on October 27 at the Cultural Center of Los Martínez del Puerto.
The City of Murcia will perform these actions with the aim of promoting gender equality and the promotion of women on the occasion of the International Day of Rural Women that is commemorated next Monday.
For this reason, a day will be held aimed at rural women in order to publicize the scope of the Plan for the Promotion of Rural Women (2015-2018).
This plan, which has a budget of 23.1 million euros and includes 82 specific actions, is part of the Strategic Plan for Equal Opportunities of the Government of Spain (2014-2016).
In addition, it is included in the II Plan of Equality of Opportunities between women and men of the municipality of Murcia.
In these days, the measures to promote the conciliation and co-responsibility will be known, as well as the development of actions of healthy upbringing, positive parenting and family education in rural areas managed by social entities and if conciliation has been facilitated and promoted through the educational centers.
This day will also address the issue of conciliation and its difficulties in the rural world.
In addition, the assumption of responsibility for family care work implies in rural areas, to a greater extent than in urban areas, that women do not participate in the labor market, or participate in greater precariousness and difficulty, or that they stop doing so. assume the upbringing or care of the elderly or with some type of disability.
Conchita Ruiz stated that "in this working day we set ourselves the following objectives: to facilitate a meeting space between the different associations of women of the municipality, to know the concrete measures of the National Plan for the promotion of women in rural areas, to make visible the difficulties in terms of reconciliation and co-responsibility of family and work life, in rural areas, to make known experiences of empowerment of women in rural areas ".
