The professor emeritus of Spanish literature of the UMU and chronicler of the city of Murcia, Francisco Javier Díez de Revenga, continues with his work of recovering Murcian figures of other times.
There are many historical figures on which he has studied, mainly professors of the University of Murcia and historical Murcian figures of other times.
In his latest work, "Hicieron historia", published by the Royal Academy Alfonso X el Sabio, in his indispensable Murciana de Bolsillo Library, he focuses on four characters in our history who developed their work during the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries. XX: the philologist Diego Clemencín Viñas, author of one of the most complete studies of Don Quixote, unsurpassed for a long time;
the canon of the cathedral Gerónimo Torres Casanova, rector of the Free University of Murcia, implanted during the First Spanish Republic;
Enrique Fuster, Count of Roche, aristocrat scholar of the history and culture of Murcia, and Emilio Díez de Revenga, writer, politician and university pro.
He was one of the promoters of the University of Murcia, professor of the center since its inception in 1915 and first vice chancellor of the UMU, the main center of studies in the region, already centenary.
Díez de Revenga affirms the purpose of his work to the last moment: to highlight the life and the important work of these four personalities, not very well known despite the value of their activities in favor of culture, humanities and education in the province of Murcia.
"For what they got they deserve to be remembered, and, from Murcia, his memory will be alive because his deeds, his commitments, his works and his days made history," the author comments in the prologue.
Díez de Revenga reels out his activities and biographies, providing important information not always known.
Articles, documents, photographs, press clippings, magazines ..., are used by the UMU professor to illustrate each one of these biographies, of great value to know the past of our Region.
